making this a ritual

So, the Balanced Rock Trail at Devil's Lake is definitely a well-trodden path. Most of us in Wisconsin have hiked it several times, or at least know of it. But have you seen it at sunset?!

We visited on a Wednesday evening in spring (rather than the usual Saturday in summer), and I highly recommend it. Pretty much the only souls on the trail, we were able to stare into the sunset in solitude. It was all around a zen time, and immediately followed by Culver's. A great night indeed.

This also happens to be the hike that inspired my new project Field Notes. I want to make hikes with friends a weekly thing and discover new corners of my home state while doing it. Send your Wisconsin hike recommendations my way! Let's shed some light on all the beauty this state has to offer.

Want to join in on the adventure? That can be arranged! My friends are definite beauts, but I can't help but imagine how good that golden hour backdrop would look paired with a free-spirited couple in love. Reach out to me here if that sounds like you!
